    Emergency MEALS-to-YOU PROGRAM

     

    With the extension of the Governor’s ‘Stay At Home’ mandate to April 30th, we have explored other means to provide meals to our students.  LaSalle Parish School Board is announcing a new program that will deliver meals to your doorstep for FREE. This program is called Meals-to-You, and it is a partnership between our district, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Baylor University.

     

    WHO QUALIFIES?

     

    To qualify for this program, your children have to attend one of our nine schools. Every other week, the Meals-to-You program will provide 10 breakfasts and 10 lunches per child for all children up to 18 years of age residing in your household.

     

    HOW DO I REGISTER?

     

    To receive these shelf stable meals, you must register on the Meals-to-You website as soon as possible. The meals will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.  Registration closes Monday, April 6, 2020.  Click on the link below and complete the simple online registration form:

    Parent/Guardian must provide:

    • an accurate current home address/NO PO Boxes
    • a contact phone number
    • an email address / to notify you of shipment status
    • the names of all children in their household that are 18 years or younger

     

    Most importantly, parents must provide permission to receive these meals.

     

    WHEN WILL MY CHILDREN BEGIN RECEIVING MEALS and FOR HOW LONG?

     

    After you register, it may be up to two weeks before the first box of meals arrives.  This program will continue until LaSalle Parish Schools reopen, or when the Child Nutrition staff can safely prepare meals and your children can safely eat at the sites providing meals.

    Special COVID-19 Blanket Employment Certificates for Minors to work in Louisiana

     

    In response to the current COVID-19 event, pursuant to La. R.S. 23:184.1 the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) will begin issuing sixty (60) day blanket Employment Certificates for employers desiring to employ minors in the State of Louisiana. Employment Certificates issued due to this event shall expire sixty (60) days from the date of issuance.   Upon expiration, employers will be required to obtain Employment Certificates as required pursuant to La. R.S. 23:181 et. seq.

     

    Employers desiring to obtain an Employment Certificate pursuant to this memorandum must submit a completed and signed “Application to Employ Minors under 18” along with proof of age to laborprograms@lwc.la.gov.  The application can be downloaded from the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s website or by copying and pasting the following web address into your web browser: http://www.laworks.net/Downloads/WFD/MinorApplicationToEmployForm.pdf.  Incomplete applications will not be processed. Employers should allow three (3) days for processing. When the application has been approved, the employer will be notified via email from the LWC Office of Workforce Development.

     

    The names of those minors who are approved to work pursuant to the Employment Certificate will also be attached to the email. As indicated, blanket Employment Certificates are effective for a maximum of sixty (60) days.  Blanket Employment Certificates are not transferable. Certificates are required to be kept at the minor’s work location.

    INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDANCE FOR LPSB PARENTS/STUDENTS:

     

    Based on current information, all students will be given lessons and/or assignments to complete during the mandated closure of schools. 

     

    Each school has created its own system for accomplishing this endeavor and will be contacting you in the very near future. Please review information on school websites and Facebook posts as well.

     

    We appreciate your patience as we work through this situation together.


    PUBLIC NOTICE:

     

    DURING THE MANDATED SCHOOL CLOSURE AN EMPLOYEE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE LASALLE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD OFFICE on  WEDNESDAYS only between the hours of 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM TO ISSUE THE FOLLOWING:

     

    **EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATES FOR MINORS -   REMINDER: You must bring proof of age (birth certificate or driver’s license) with you and your application for employment with signed parental consent.

     

    **DRIVER’S LICENSE ATTENDANCE FORMS -

    Students applying must be in compliance with school attendance regulations related to excessive absences or tardiness and complete an application form upon arrival.  Your student’s attendance and disciplinary history will be evaluated prior to issuance.

    Student work during quarantine:

     

    Please click on your grade to see assignments for ELA and Math.  Assignments will be updated weekly.  Completed work can be returned beginning Monday; there will be a drop-off container behind the office.  Please label all work with student's first and last name along with grade.  If you have any questions, please email your teacher or contact us.

    The work online and in the paper packets at the school are EXACTLY THE SAME.  You do not need to pick up a paper packet if you have access to the online work.

    Memos from the office:

    • Even if your child did not earn the PBIS reward, they should be at school on PBIS days.  The events rarely disrupt more than 1 or 2 classes.  All other classes proceed as usual.  (Remember: Absences count against them on the next PBIS, as well.)

    SCHOOL FEES

    PE Uniform: $20.00

    The PE fee is for a uniform to be worn during PE classes. See details below regarding payment.

    Method of Payment: Check or Cash (Make checks out to JJHS)

    Method of Collection:  PE fees should be paid to the PE teachers.

    Due Dates: PE uniform money should be paid for by the third week of school.

    If payments are not met by the due dates, then a request for payment will be sent home for all accounts unpaid by the end of the 1st six weeks.
